Rodrigo Padilla

Rodrigo first understood hair through the intimacy of styling his grandmother. His early training in classical ballet formed an instinct for line, posture and controlled movement that continues to shape his work.

He arrived in New York at twenty three and developed his career under Sally Hershberger, building a practice defined by precision cutting, quiet transformation and an ability to understand the person before deciding on the shape.

Punta del Este is now his home base. When in New York he works from Jenna Perry Hair in SoHo, and the private practice continues between New York, Punta del Este and Puerto Rico.

Alongside his work in hair, Rodrigo is a collector of Latin American contemporary art and a member of the Whitney Museum’s Drawing and Print Acquisition Committee.
